My personal fitness journey: pandemic edition

  • by

People took a variety of journeys during the pandemic. Mine was unfortunately an unhealthy one. With the pressures of being in the office everyday removed, and with being stuck at home, I became sedentary and went up to around 240 pounds, from my baseline of around 220 pounds. I don’t gain much weight in my face, so judgment from colleagues was delayed, and there weren’t many social pressures for me to maintain a healthy weight, and no easy access to a gym.

Over the following years, I ballooned up to a maximum of around 290 pounds! This was in part due to a relationship with someone that wasted a lot of food- so I felt obligated to try to reduce the waste as much as possible. Furthermore, I had a child, and I had to adjust to a new job, so how would it ever be possible to get to a healthy weight again? My time was very much constrained.
